WEEK 4 - FOOD, FOOD, FOOD

Days 22 - 28

The hardest thing about this transformation project isn’t the getting up at 5:00am for my run, nor hitting the gym for up to an hour and a half or even completing the 20 minute run at 9pm after my last client, it’s the monotony of the food. Boring food prep, boring food and boring eating of the food. I’ve attached a picture of what I’m eating 7 times per day (it does vary but you get the idea)

The tupperware on the right is 200g of chicken, 200g of sweet potato and a handful of veggies. The containers to the left; one has 200g of chicken & brocolli and the other 200g of oats. Both options have the same calories and the same macronutrients. Both also have something else in common, they bore the hole off of me. Try eating this seven times a day, seven days a week heeeeeelp meeee!

Apologies for that negativity, you do get used to the food. I have employed the services of Sénior Tabasco and the ever reliable Colonel Coleman, who my late Grandad informed me made most of his millions from the mustard left on people's plates, not the stuff they had eaten. It's surprisingly hard to find any condiment that doesn't contain sugar (you try it, I'd be glad to hear of any). These two wonderful condiments are a lifesaver, as is the overcooking of broccoli and the mashing of the sweet potato...it adds moisture to a meal that would otherwise be as succulent as a dead camels ball bag.

I find that with enough distraction you could pretty much eat anything, not the best use of NLP but it helps get through it.

Don't get me wrong these meals aren't terrible but just motononous...196 meals in 28 days, of the same thing, at least in Alcatraz you'd get more variety,

There are other methods to spice things up by adding herbs and spices, some onion and different vegetables but the food prep is time consuming so I’m working within my parameters. If I had more time I would put more effort in but this bare minimum approach means that I’m always prepared and will not miss a meal. Very important for fat loss and maintaining energy levels. The bottom line is that unless you are after extreme fat loss this diet is not advisable. It lacks good fats which leaves me with as much brain focus as a goldfish in a washing machine and for a normal person it’s simply not sustainable. I am already looking forward to returning to big salads with olive oil, eggs on toast (eggs with yolk mmm) and lots of the other healthy treats. I can’t help but think about how much further away the end result would be with the inclusion of these things, probably not by much, perhaps three or four weeks. But I have a deadline and any advantage I can gain is going to be worth it.
